Bishop of Manokwari-Sorong
Bishop Datus Hilarion Lega, Bishop of Manokwari-Sorong, was born on October 21, 1956, in Kupang, in the Diocese of Ruteng, into a deeply Christian family of Florinese origin. He studied in his own country and in Scotland, obtaining a master's degree in social sciences at Edinburgh. He was ordained a priest for Ruteng on June 15, 1984. He served as chaplain and parish priest, executive secretary of the Episcopal Commission for Social and Economic Development, and director of Caritas Indonesia. On June 30, 2003, he was appointed Bishop of Manokwari-Sorong. He received episcopal ordination on September 7, 2003, at Sorong, with Francis Xavier Sudartanta Hadisumarta as principal consecrator and Julius Riyadi Darmaatmadja and Jacobus Duivenvoorde as co-consecrators.
