Fernando García Cadiñanos was born in Burgos on May 7, 1968. He pursued his ecclesiastical studies at the Faculty of Theology of Northern Spain (Burgos campus), where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Theology and a Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology. He was ordained a priest on June 26, 1993. He holds a Licentiate in Social Sciences, specializing in Social Doctrine and Ethics, from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2000). Msgr. García Cadiñanos carried out his priestly ministry in the Diocese of Burgos, serving as parochial vicar of Santa Catalina in Aranda de Duero (1993–1997); pastor of Solarana—along with nine other rural parishes, including Villalmanzo (2004–2014)—and pastor of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves in the city of Burgos (2014–2016). Additionally, he held the positions of delegate for Workers' Pastoral Care (1995–1997); secretary of the Department for Sociopolitical Formation of the Archdiocese of Burgos (2000–2010); archpriest of Arlanza and secretary of the Presbyteral Council (2005–2014); diocesan delegate for Caritas (2015); and Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia (2016–2021). At the Faculty of Theology of Northern Spain (Burgos campus), he teaches a course on Social Moral Theology and serves as director of the Center for the Social Doctrine of the Church. Pope Francis announced his appointment as Bishop of Mondoñedo-Ferrol on July 1, 2021. He received episcopal ordination on September 4, 2021.
