Bishop John Joale Tlhomola

Bishop John Joale Tlhomola, Bishop of Mohale's Hoek, was born on March 12, 1966, at Pulane Ha Mosiuoa, in the district of Berea and in the Archdiocese of Maseru. After his primary and secondary studies he entered the novitiate of the secular institute of the Servants of Christ the Priest at Hammanskraal from 1987 to 1988, professing his first vows in 1989 and his perpetual vows in 1995. He was a formator at St. Ambrose pre-seminary from 1995 to 1996 and was in charge of the pastoral care of the cathedral of Our Lady of Victories in 1997, and he was ordained a priest on March 28, 1998. He served as assistant priest at the cathedral in Maseru from 1998 to 2001 and as priest in charge of the same cathedral from 2001 to 2003, as parish priest of the Christ the Priest mission at Motsekuoa, in the Diocese of Mohale's Hoek, from 2003 to 2010, and as treasurer of St. Augustine's Major Seminary and professor of liturgy and spirituality in the preparatory seminary in Lesotho from 2010 to 2011. In 2011 he was elected director general of the Servants of Christ the Priest, at Hammanskraal in the Archdiocese of Pretoria. On February 11, 2014, he was appointed Bishop of Mohale's Hoek. He received episcopal ordination on May 10, 2014, at Mohale's Hoek, with Sebastian Koto Khoarai as principal consecrator and William Matthew Slattery and Gerard Tlali Lerotholi as co-consecrators.
