Bishop of Moramanga
Rosario Saro Vella, S.D.B., was born on May 8, 1952, in Canicattì, in the Archdiocese of Agrigento (Italy). After completing his secondary education at the Salesian student house in San Gregorio, Catania, he attended the Theological Institute in Messina and was ordained a priest on May 27, 1979. He also earned a degree in Philosophy from the University of Palermo. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1979–1981: Animator of Salesian students in San Gregorio, Catania; from 1981: Missionary in Madagascar; 1982–1995: Parish priest in Ankililoaka (Archdiocese of Toliara); 1989–1990: Novice Master in Ankililoaka; 1995–2004: Parish priest of the parish and district of Betafo (Diocese of Antsirabe); from 2004: Parish priest and Superior of the Salesian Community in Bemaneviky (Diocese of Ambanja). Additionally, he teaches Patristics at the Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Antsiranana and is a member of the College of Consultors of the Diocese of Ambanja.
