Bishop of Moroto
Damiano Giulio Guzzetti, M.C.C.J., was born on July 15, 1959, in Turate, in the Archdiocese of Milan. He entered the novitiate of the Comboni Missionaries in 1983; he made his first religious profession on May 25, 1985, and his perpetual profession on March 27, 1989. He completed his philosophy studies in Uganda at the Ggaba Major Seminary in Kampala (1986–1988) and his theology studies in Kenya at Tangaza College in Nairobi (1988–1989). He was ordained a priest on September 23, 1989. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1989–1994: pastoral ministry in Italy, focusing on missionary animation and vocational promotion for his Congregation; 1994–2009: parochial vicar in Namalu and Naoi, and subsequently parish priest of Matany in the Diocese of Moroto; 1999–2002: member of the Provincial Council of the Comboni Missionaries in Uganda; 2009–2014: formator at his Congregation’s postulancy house in Uganda, as well as bursar and lecturer at the Queen of Apostles Philosophy Centre in Jinja; since 2014: assigned to the MCCJ Province of Italy.
