Bishop of Maralal
Hieronymus Joya, I.M.C., was born on April 17, 1965, in Asinge, in the Diocese of Bungoma. He holds a diploma in Sales Management, Marketing, and Communication. In 1990, he entered the Institute of the Consolata Missionaries, making his perpetual vows on November 8, 1997. He completed his studies in Philosophy at the Consolata Institute of Philosophy (1990–93) and in Theology at Tangaza University College in Nairobi (1994–98). Ordained a priest on September 5, 1998, he subsequently held the following positions: Parochial Vicar and Parish Priest of the Loiyangalani Catholic Mission in the Diocese of Marsabit (1998–2003); Rector of the Philosophy Seminary of the Consolata Missionaries in Nairobi (2003–2005); Licentiate in Pastoral Theology from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) (2005–2007); Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator and Director of the Blessed Joseph Allamano Pastoral Centre in the Diocese of Maralal (2007–2008); and Vice Superior (2008–2011) and Regional Superior of the Consolata Missionaries for the Kenya-Uganda Region (2011–2016). Since 2016, he has served as a professor at the Consolata Missionaries' Philosophy Seminary and as a doctoral candidate in Pastoral Theology at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) in Nairobi.
