Bishop of Musoma
Michael George Mabuga Msonganzila was born on July 17, 1956, in the parish of Bukumbi, in the Archdiocese of Mwanza. After attending the Nyegezi Minor Seminary, he studied philosophy at St. Anthony Major Seminary in Ntungamo and theology at St. Paul Major Seminary in Kipalapala. He was ordained a priest on December 2, 1984, and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Mwanza. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1985–1989: Parochial Vicar at Itira and teacher at the Nyegezi Minor Seminary; 1989–1990: Parochial Vicar at Murutunguru; 1990–1994: Studies in Rome at the Pontifical Urban University for a Doctorate in Canon Law; 1995–1997: Director of Vocations; 1996–1999: Vicar General of Mwanza; 1999–2000: Episcopal Vicar for Religious; 2000–2003: Professor at the Major Seminary in Peramiho. Since 2005: Councilor at St. Augustine University; Parish Priest of Malya and Spiritual Director of the Benedictine Sisters in Mwanza. He is currently the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Tanzania.
