Bishop of Ngong
John Oballa Owaa was born on August 28, 1958, in the parish of Ahero, in the Archdiocese of Kisumu. He studied philosophy at St. Augustine Major Seminary (1980–1982) and theology at St. Thomas Aquinas National Major Seminary (1982–1986). He was ordained a priest on August 28, 1986, and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Kisumu. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1986–1988: Parochial Vicar at Kibuye and the Cathedral; 1989–1990: *Locum tenens* at Barkorwa Catholic Church; 1991–1997: Studies for the Licentiate and Doctorate in Canon Law at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome (during this same period, he also obtained a diploma in jurisprudence from the Gregorian University); 1995–1997: Official at the Pontifical Council for Health Care Workers; 1998–2010: Parish Priest of Ojolla Parish; 1999–2001: Secretary and Financial Administrator of the Archdiocese of Kisumu; 2004–2010: Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Kisumu. Since 2010, he has served as Rector of St. Thomas Aquinas National Major Seminary in Nairobi.
