Bishop Giuseppe Giudice

Bishop Giuseppe Giudice, Bishop of Nocera Inferiore-Sarno, was born on September 10, 1956, in Sala Consilina, in the province of Salerno and the Diocese of Teggiano-Policastro. Having obtained a teaching diploma, he taught for some years in the primary school of the Maestre Pie Filippini at Sala Consilina. In 1980 he entered the episcopal seminary of Teggiano and then moved to the archiepiscopal seminary of Naples. He completed his theological studies at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy and then attended the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, obtaining a licentiate in dogmatic theology. He was ordained a priest for Teggiano-Policastro on September 27, 1986. He served as parish priest of San Nicola in Roscigno (1986-1989); parish administrator of San Michele at Bellosguardo (1988-1989); vice-rector of the minor seminary of Teggiano (1989-1990); and assistant parish priest of Sant'Anna at Sala Consilina (1990-1995), becoming its parish priest in 1995. From 1998 he was also parish priest of Sant'Antonio da Padova at Sala Consilina. He lectured in ecclesiology at the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences of Teggiano, served as unitary assistant of diocesan Catholic Action and regional assistant of Catholic Action for children, and was secretary general of the diocesan synod. He also served as director of the catechetical office and of the schools office. On March 24, 2011, he was appointed Bishop of Nocera Inferiore-Sarno. He received episcopal ordination on May 13, 2011, with Agostino Vallini as principal consecrator and Angelo Spinillo and Gioacchino Illiano as co-consecrators.
