Archbishop Richard Moth

Bishop Charles Phillip Richard Moth, until now bishop of Arundel and Brighton, as metropolitan archbishop of Westminster, England. Curriculum vitae Archbishop-elect Charles Phillip Richard Moth was born on 8 July 1958 in Chingola, Zambia. He carried out his primary and secondary school studies in Catholic schools in Kent. He received his priestly formation at Saint John’s Seminary in Wonersh, Surrey, and at the Université Saint-Paul in Ottawa, where he was awarded a licentiate in canon law. He was ordained a priest on 3 July 1982 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Southwark. He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest, judge of the Southwark Metropolitan Tribunal of First Instance; chaplain of the Medical Army Corps in Kennington; special secretary to the archbishop; master of liturgical celebrations; director of the Vocations Office and vice-chancellor; president of the Southwark Metropolitan Tribunal of Second Instance. In 2001 he was appointed vicar general of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Southwark and Prelate of Honour; in 2003, parish administrator of Holy Cross, Plumstead; and in 2006, parish administrator of Saint Joseph’s, Saint Mary’s, Cray. On 25 July 2009 he was appointed bishop military ordinary for Great Britain, receiving episcopal consecration the following 29 September. On 21 March 2015 he was transferred to the see of Arundel and Brighton.
