Eduardo Vieira dos Santos was born on March 18, 1965, in Bom Sucesso, Paraná. In 1988, he entered the Congregation of Holy Cross in São Paulo, where he made his solemn vows and received diaconal ordination. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of São Paulo on December 15, 2000. He served as pastor of São João Gualberto Parish for seven years, and from 2008 to 2013 was vice-rector of the Bom Pastor Theology Seminary. From November 2008 to January 2015 he served as chancellor of the Archdiocese of São Paulo, and from August 2013 to January 2015 as rector of the Metropolitan Cathedral. Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of São Paulo on December 10, 2014, and he received his episcopal ordination on February 7, 2015.
