Bishop of Oyem
Jean-Vincent Ondo was born on January 20, 1960, in Koulamoutou, in the Diocese of Franceville. After completing his primary education, he attended secondary school in Libreville as a student at the "St. Jean" Minor Seminary until it closed. In 1984, he began his philosophical studies in Rome at the Pontifical Urban College and subsequently continued his philosophical and theological studies on the outskirts of Paris at the Issy-les-Moulineaux Seminary. He was ordained a priest on July 1, 1990, in Libreville, where he was incardinated. Following his ordination, he served briefly at the "Re Magi" (Three Kings) parish in Libreville; in October 1990, he was appointed parish priest of the large, centrally located "St. Pierre" parish, also in Libreville. After a two-year hiatus (1993–1995) to obtain a Licentiate in Moral Theology, he returned to Gabon in 1995 and was reappointed parish priest of "St. Pierre" in Libreville, as well as Vicar General of the Archdiocese.
