Bishop of Ozieri
Corrado Melis was born in Sardara, in the Diocese of Ales-Terralba, on March 11, 1963. In 1974, he entered the diocesan minor seminary in Villacidro; after completing his secondary education at the "E. Piga" Classical High School, he pursued the standard course of studies for the priesthood at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Sardinia in Cagliari (1983–1988), obtaining a Licentiate in Theology. He was ordained a priest on June 25, 1988, and incardinated into the Diocese of Ales-Terralba. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar at Santa Barbara Parish in Villacidro and Diocesan Assistant for Catholic Action Youth (1988–1993); Vice-Rector of the diocesan seminary in Villacidro (1991–1994); Formator at the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Sardinia in Cagliari (1993–1998); Director of the Diocesan Catechetical Office (1994–2004); Chaplain in Montevecchio, Guspini (1996–2001); Vicar and subsequently Parish Administrator at San Nicolò Vescovo in Guspini (1998–2001); and Parish Priest at San Bernardino in Mogoro (2001–2011). Since 2011, he has served as Parish Priest of Santa Barbara Parish in Villacidro. He currently also serves as Episcopal Vicar for Evangelization and Education, Director of the Diocesan Office for Family Pastoral Care, and Director of Pastoral Care for Ecumenism. Furthermore, he is a member of the College of Consultors and the Diocesan Council for Economic Affairs.
