Archbishop of Panamá
His Most Reverend Excellency Monsignor José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta, O.S.A. Born in Chitré, Panama, on December 24, 1956. He is the third of three children born to the marriage of Dagoberto Ulloa and Clodomira Mendieta. He was ordained a priest on December 17, 1983, by the then-Bishop of Chitré, Msgr. José María Carrizo Villarreal, at the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista in Chitré. He entered the Order of Saint Augustine in 1987, making his solemn vows on August 28, 1991. On February 26, 2004, His Holiness Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Bishop of Naratcata and Auxiliary Bishop of Panama. His episcopal consecration took place at the Metropolitan Cathedral on April 17, 2004, in a ceremony presided over by Monsignor José Dimas Cedeño, the then-Archbishop of Panama. Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Archbishop of Panama on February 18, 2010; his canonical installation took place on April 18 of that same year. He is the seventh Archbishop of Panama and the current President of the Panamanian Episcopal Conference. ECCLESIAL STUDIES. In November 2012, he was elected President of the Episcopal Secretariat of Central America (SEDAC) for a four-year term (2012–2016).
