Bishop Eugenio Coter

Bishop Eugenio Coter, Apostolic Administrator of Reyes and Vicar Apostolic of Pando, was born on July 11, 1957, in Gazzaniga, in the Diocese of Bergamo, in Italy. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the seminary of Bergamo, and he was ordained a priest at Bergamo on June 20, 1981. He specialized in extracurricular education in 1983. He served as parochial vicar at Grassobbio from 1981 to 1985 and at Gandino from 1985 to 1991, and before leaving for the missions he followed a course of formation at the Centro Unitario Missionario in Verona. He arrived in Bolivia in 1991 as a fidei donum missionary in the Archdiocese of Cochabamba, where he was parochial vicar at Sacaba from 1992 to 1994 and at Villa Tunari from 1994 to 1995, and parish priest of Condebamba in Cochabamba from 1995 to 2000. He was a member of the San Lucas archdiocesan foundation from 1992 to 1999 and its president from 1996 to 1999, legal representative in Bolivia of the non-governmental organization Celim of the Diocese of Bergamo from 1999 to 2012, a member of the archdiocesan pastoral council from 2009 to 2011, and episcopal delegate for social pastoral care and Caritas in Cochabamba from 2000 to 2012. From 2012 he was spiritual director of the San Luis archdiocesan major seminary in Cochabamba, and from 2010 he has been president of the Bolivian association of blood donors. On February 2, 2013, he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of Pando and Titular Bishop of Thibiuca. He received episcopal ordination on April 24, 2013, at Riberalta. On July 9, 2022, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Reyes.
