Bishop of Pasig
Bishop Mylo Hubert Claudio Vergara, Bishop of Pasig, was born on October 23, 1962, in Manila, in the Archdiocese of Manila. He completed his secondary studies at the Ateneo de Manila High School and, at the same university, obtained a master of arts in philosophy and a bachelor of science in management engineering. He obtained a licentiate in sacred theology from the Loyola School of Theology and a doctorate from St. Thomas University. He was ordained a deacon on November 4, 1989, and a priest for Manila on March 24, 1990. Until 1994 he served as dean of studies and professor of philosophy at Holy Apostles Senior Seminary in Guadalupe, Makati City, while also serving pastorally as parochial vicar of St. Andrew the Apostle parish. From 1994 to 2001 he was rector of the same seminary, also serving as a member of the presbyteral council and as spiritual assistant and chaplain of associations. He was parish priest of Santa Rita de Cascia parish in Philamlife Homes, Quezon City (2001-2004), president of Radio Veritas Global Broadcasting System from 2002, and chancellor of the new Diocese of Cubao from 2003, in which he was incardinated on August 28, 2003. In 2004 he was appointed parish priest of the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. On February 12, 2005, he was appointed Bishop of San Jose. He received episcopal ordination on April 30, 2005, at Cubao, with Gaudencio Borbon Rosales as principal consecrator and Honesto Flores Ongtioco and Leo Murphy Drona as co-consecrators, and he was installed on May 14, 2005. On April 20, 2011, he was appointed Bishop of Pasig. On September 21, 2023, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of San Pablo, ceasing to hold that office on November 21, 2024. Within the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines he has served as chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Seminaries.
