Bishop of Pinheiro
Elio Rama, I.M.C., was born on October 28, 1953, in Tucunduva, in the Diocese of Santo Ângelo, State of Rio Grande do Sul. He made his religious profession in the Consolata Mission Institute on October 21, 1982, and was ordained a priest on November 10, 1984. He pursued studies in Philosophy at the Faculdades Associadas do Ipiranga – FAI (1975–1976) and in Theology at the Pontifical Urban University (1979–1984), where he also obtained a Licentiate in Missiology. As a priest, he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar in Vilanculo, Mozambique (1985–1987); Parish Priest in Vilanculo (1987–1992); Rector of the Consolata Seminary in Nampula, Mozambique (1992–1996); Regional Superior in Maputo, Mozambique (1996–2002); Rector of the I.M.C. Theological Seminary in São Paulo (2003–2009); Regional Councilor in São Paulo (2005–2011); and Parish Priest of Nossa Senhora da Penha parish in São Paulo (2010–2011). Since 2011, he has served as Regional Superior for Brazil of the Consolata Mission Institute, based in the Archdiocese of São Paulo.
