Archbishop of Piura
He was born on June 4, 1957, in Castilla, in the Archdiocese of Piura. He studied Philosophy at the San Luis Gonzaga Seminary in Jaén and Theology at the Pontifical and Civil Faculty of Theology in Lima. He was ordained a priest on March 25, 1987, and incardinated into the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Piura. He has held the following positions: parochial vicar of Sagrado Corazón de Jesús (1987–1988); pastor of San Silvestre (1988–1990); formator, spiritual director, and professor at the San Juan María Vianney Archdiocesan Seminary (1991–2001); regional spiritual assistant for the Secular Institute of the Gospel (1995–2013); chancellor of the Archdiocese of Piura (1999–2002); diocesan spiritual assistant for the John XXIII Movement (since 2010); member of the College of Consultors and the Presbyteral Council, and member of the Vicariate for the Family (since 2013); and, until now, vicar general of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Piura. He has pursued further studies in Pastoral Theology, Psychology, and Spirituality.
