Bishop Raúl Alfonso Carrillo Martínez

Raúl Alfonso Carrillo Martínez is Vicar Apostolic of Puerto Gaitán, Colombia. Bishop Raúl Alfonso Carrillo Martínez was born in Ubaté, Diocese of Zipaquirá, on 22 September 1964. At San José Major Seminary of Zipaquirá he completed his priestly formation, attending philosophy and theology courses there between 1984 and 1990. He was ordained priest on 14 May 1990, being incardinated in the same Diocese of Zipaquirá. Between 2000 and 2002 he attended the Pontifical Lateran University, where he obtained a licentiate in Pastoral Theology. He served as parish vicar at Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, Tibirita (1990-1991); missionary and parish vicar at Santa Cruz de Mompox, Diocese of Magangué (8 months during 1991); missionary and pastor at Santa Cruz, Diocese of Magangué (1991-1994); pastor at Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, Zipaquirá (1994-2000); diocesan delegate for missionary ministry (1994-2000); student in Rome (2000-2002); formator at San José Major Seminary of Zipaquirá (2002-2007); treasurer of the Major Seminary of Zipaquirá and member of the diocesan council for economic affairs (2002-2007); pastor at Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, Zipaquirá (2008); member of the diocesan council for economic affairs and moderator of the curia (2008); and vicar forane of Santísima Trinidad (2008-2016). On 8 April 2016 he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of Puerto Gaitán by Pope Francis. His episcopal ordination was on 22 May 2016. He took possession of the assigned see on 16 June of the same year. On 25 April 2020 he was appointed apostolic administrator of Puerto Carreño, an office he exercised until 8 June 2023.
