Bishop Alejandro Adolfo Wiesse León

Alejandro Adolfo Wiesse León, O.F.M., was born on October 11, 1972, in Lima. In 1991, he entered the Order of Friars Minor (OFM)—specifically the San Francisco Solano Province in the Rímac District of Lima—where he began his postulancy. He pursued his studies in Philosophy and Theology at the ISET (Juan XXIII Higher Institute of Theological Studies) in Lima. He made his solemn profession on September 12, 1999, and was ordained a priest on December 8, 2002. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: Professor of Sacred Scripture at the San Pío X Major Seminary in Huancayo and at other schools (1998–2000), and at the Major Seminary and the Catholic University of Chimbote (2001–2002); Promoter at the San Antonio de Padua School in Huamanga (2002–2003); Coordinator of youth catechesis and evangelization in Ica (2003–2007); Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem (2007–2010); Doctorate in Biblical Theology from Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid (2010–2014); and Parish Priest of the Immaculate Conception at Templo Faro and Novice Master in Callao (2014–2017). Since 2017, he has served as the O.F.M. Provincial Minister of the San Francisco Solano Province and as a lecturer at various academic institutions in Lima.
