Bishop of Rieti (-S. Salvatore Maggiore)
Vito Piccinonna was born on June 1, 1977, in Palombaio, in the Archdiocese of Bari-Bitonto. He was ordained a priest on September 3, 2002. He obtained a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology from the Regina Apuliae Institute in Molfetta (part of the Theological Faculty of Puglia) and, subsequently, a Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology. He has held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of Maria Santissima Annunziata in Modugno (2002–2005); Spiritual Father of the Archiepiscopal Seminary of Bari-Bitonto (2005–2013); Diocesan Assistant for the Youth Sector of Catholic Action (2005–2011); National Ecclesiastical Assistant for the Youth Sector of Italian Catholic Action (2008–2013); and Director of the Caritas Office of the Archdiocese of Bari-Bitonto (2013–2022). Since 2015, he has served as Parish Priest of Saints Cosmas and Damian (Santi Medici) in Bitonto, Rector of the shrine of the same name, President of the *Opera Santi Medici Cosma e Damiano - Bitonto - Onlus* Foundation, and Spiritual Assistant to the Lorusso Cipparoli Therapeutic Community. He is the Regional Delegate for the National Association of Shrines and, since September 2022, has served as Episcopal Vicar for Charity. The Holy Father has appointed Vito Piccinonna—a priest of the Archdiocese of Bari-Bitonto and currently Episcopal Vicar for Charity, Parish Priest-Rector of the Shrine of the *Santi Medici*, and President of the *Opera Santi Medici* Foundation in Bitonto—as Bishop of the Diocese of Rieti.
