Bishop of Rottenburg-Stuttgart
Msgr. Klaus Krämer was born on 14 January 1964 in Stuttgart. He studied law in Augsburg and München, and theology in Freiburg im Breisgau, and obtained a diploma in theological studies in Tübingen. He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart on 19 June 1993. After ordination, he first held the roles of deputy parish priest in Rottweil (1993-1994) and special secretary to the diocesan bishop (1994-1997). He was awarded a doctorate in dogmatic theology from the Universität Freiburg (1997-2000), and went on to serve as canon of the Cathedral Chapter (since 1999), episcopal vicar for the formation of pastoral workers (2004-2008), president of Missio Aachen and national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Germany (2008-2019), and president of the Pontifical Missionary Childhood in Germany (2010-2019). In 2015 he was appointed honorary professor of dogmatic theology and missiology at the High Philosophical-Theological School of Vallendar. To date he has served as chancellor of the diocese and delegate of the diocesan administrator.
