Bishop Luiz Carlos Dias

Luiz Carlos Dias was born on September 16, 1964, in Caconde, in the Diocese of São João da Boa Vista, in the State of São Paulo. He completed his studies in Philosophy (1984–1986) and Theology (1987–1990) at the *Centro de Estudos da Arquidiocese de Ribeirão Preto* (CEARP). He obtained a Licentiate in Philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2002–2004). He was ordained a priest on April 5, 1991, and incardinated into the Diocese of São João da Boa Vista, where he held the following positions: Rector of the Propaedeutic Seminary; Parochial Vicar of *Imaculada Conceição* in Caconde; Parish Priest of *Nossa Senhora de Fátima* in São João da Boa Vista; Director of the Institute of Philosophy; Rector of the *São João Maria Vianney* Theology Seminary and Parochial Vicar of *São Judas Tadeu* in Mogi Guaçu; and Coordinator of Missionary Pastoral Care and member of the Presbyteral Council. Furthermore, he served as a professor at the Institutes of Philosophy of the Dioceses of São João da Boa Vista and Guaxupé, and of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Brasília. From 2010 to 2015, he served as Executive Secretary for the *Campanha da Fraternidade* (Fraternity Campaign) and the *Campanha da Evangelização* (Evangelization Campaign) of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference. On March 16, 2016, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Tunes and Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of São Paulo, receiving episcopal ordination on May 7 of that year. Until now, he has served as Episcopal Vicar for the Belém Region. Within the Brazilian Bishops' Conference, he serves as Secretary of the *Regional Sul 1*.
