Archbishop of Santiago del Estero
Vicente Bokalic Iglic is Cardinal-Priest of Santa Maria Maddalena in Campo Marzio. Vicente Bokalic Iglic, C.M., was born on 11 June 1952 in Lanús, Buenos Aires. In 1970 he entered the Congregation of the Mission, the Lazarists. He completed philosophical studies at the Jesuit Colegio Máximo in San Miguel and theological studies in the Seminary of Buenos Aires. He made perpetual vows on 5 June 1976. Ordained a priest on 1 April 1978, he was entrusted with vocational and youth pastoral care in Buenos Aires and, from 1981, also exercised the office of parochial vicar of Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa. From 1983 to 1986 he was formator and bursar, and from 1987 to 1990 superior in the seminary of the Congregation of the Mission. From 1991 to 1993 he again worked in the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa; from 1994 to 1997 he was a missionary in the Prelature of Deán Funes; and from 1997 to 2000 he was superior of his congregation's seminary in San Miguel. He was missionary and parish priest in the Diocese of Goya from 2000 to 2003, and from December 2003 to December 2009 he exercised the office of provincial superior of the Congregation of the Mission. He was then assigned again to the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa in Buenos Aires. On 15 March 2010 he was appointed titular bishop of Summa and auxiliary bishop of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He received episcopal consecration on 29 May of the same year.
