Bishop of São Luíz de Cáceres
Jacy Diniz Rocha was born on September 29, 1958, in São João Evangelista, in the Diocese of Guanhães, State of Minas Gerais. After attending primary and secondary school in Barreiras, he pursued his studies in philosophy at the Major Seminary of Brasília and in theology at three institutions: the Major Seminary of Brasília, the School of Theology in Barra, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Belo Horizonte. He was ordained a priest on May 26, 1984, and incardinated into the Diocese of Barreiras, in the State of Bahia, where he served as parochial vicar, parish administrator, parish priest, vocation promoter, and formator at the propaedeutic seminary. In 2003, he moved to the Diocese of Guanhães, where he was incardinated on January 23, 2006, and held the following positions: parish administrator of the parishes of Sant’Ana in Ferros (2003–2005), Nossa Senhora da Glória in Divinolândia de Minas (2005–2012), Nossa Senhora do Patrocínio in Virginópolis (2005–2012), and Santa Maria Eterna in Santa Maria do Suaçuí (2012–2013); parish priest of São Sebastião in Sabinópolis (2014); head and instructor at the School for Pastoral Agents; and member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors. He is currently the diocesan pastoral coordinator and parish priest of Santo Antonio in Coluna.
