Bishop of Saskatoon (Ukrainian)
Bishop Michael Smolinski, C.Ss.R., Bishop of Saskatoon (Ukrainian), was born on September 10, 1972, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, in the Eparchy of Saskatoon (Ukrainian). He entered the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer on September 1, 1997, and made his first profession on August 15, 1999, and made his perpetual profession on August 15, 2002. He studied at Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies, University of Saskatchewan and University of St. Michael's College. He was ordained a priest for the same institute on July 5, 2003, in Saskatoon. On November 30, 2023, he was appointed Bishop of Saskatoon (Ukrainian). He received episcopal ordination on January 20, 2024, at Saskatoon, with Sviatoslav Shevchuk as principal consecrator and Lawrence Daniel Huculak O.S.B.M. and Bryan Joseph Bayda C.Ss.R. as co-consecrators. He was installed as Bishop of Saskatoon (Ukrainian) on January 21, 2024. He is a member of Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.
