Archbishop Andrea Bellandi

Archbishop Andrea Bellandi, Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, Italy, was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno by the Pope, having until then been vicar general of Florence. He was born on 22 October 1960 in Florence, in the province and archdiocese of the same name. In 1979 he entered the archdiocesan seminary of Florence for studies in preparation for the priesthood. As a student of the Pontifical Lombard Seminary in Rome, he obtained a degree in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. He was ordained a priest on 4 April 1985 for the Archdiocese of Florence. From 1987 he was ordinary professor of fundamental theology at the Studio Teologico Fiorentino, which became the Theological Faculty of Central Italy in 1997, of which he was dean from 2003 to 2009. From 1990 to 1997 he was chaplain of the Suore Montalve alla Quiete. From 1990 he was spiritual assistant of university students. From 1996 he was pastor of San Giovannino dei Cavalieri Parish in Florence; from 2010 he was canon of the metropolitan cathedral of Florence and archdiocesan delegate for clergy formation. From 2014 he was vicar general of Florence and rector of the Church of San Giovannino dei Cavalieri. From 2015 he was vice president of the Scuola Fiorentina per l'educazione, il dialogo internazionale e interculturale. He is a member of the presbyteral council, the diocesan pastoral council, and the diocesan social communications committee. For some years he was regional head and member of the national council of the Communion and Liberation movement. He is the author of several publications.
