Bishop of Teano-Calvi
Giacomo Cirulli was born on September 25, 1952, in Cerignola. He earned a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Naples Federico II in 1981. He completed his priestly formation at the Almo Collegio Capranica in Rome, obtaining a Baccalaureate in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University and, in 1984, a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. He was ordained a priest on December 7, 1982, and incardinated into the Diocese of Cerignola-Ascoli Satriano. He held the following positions: Parish Priest of Saint Anthony of Padua in Cerignola (1984–1996); Rector of the Diocesan Seminary (1996–2001); Director of the Diocesan Caritas (1988–2001); member of the Presbyteral and Diocesan Pastoral Councils (since 1988); Regional Caritas Delegate (1994–1996); Regional Coordinator for conscientious objectors serving with Caritas (1989–1994); Religion teacher at the Zingarelli High School in Cerignola (1985–1991); Lecturer in Sacred Scripture at the Diocesan Institute of Religious Sciences (since 1985) and at the Theological Faculty of Puglia (1992–2011); Director of the Catholic Doctors' Association (1992–1996); Episcopal Vicar for ministries and the ongoing formation of the clergy (1996–2001); Director of youth and vocational pastoral care (1996–2001); member of the College of Consultors (1998–2001); member of the Episcopal Council (1996–2001); and, since 2001, Vicar Forane and Diocesan Exorcist, as well as Parish Priest of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Sorrows (B.V. Maria Addolorata) parish in Orta Nova. ...from 2012, Episcopal Vicar for Culture and member of the Episcopal Council; from 2016 until his appointment as bishop, he served as Vicar General. On September 14, 2017, he was appointed Bishop of Teano-Calvi, receiving episcopal ordination on the following December 7. On February 26, 2021, he assumed governance of the Diocese of Alife-Caiazzo, united *in persona Episcopi* (in the person of the bishop) with that of Teano-Calvi. On December 3, 2022, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Sessa Aurunca. The Holy Father has appointed H.E. Msgr. Giacomo Cirulli—Bishop of Teano-Calvi and Alife-Caiazzo and hitherto Apostolic Administrator of Sessa Aurunca—as Bishop of Sessa Aurunca, uniting the three dioceses *in persona Episcopi*. H.E. Msgr.
