Bishop Augustin Traoré

Augustin Traoré was born in Banakouru, in the Diocese of Ségou, on November 15, 1955. He pursued his studies in his home country at the minor seminary in Koulikoro; in Burkina Faso—studying philosophy in Ouagadougou and earning a bachelor's degree in theology in Koumi; in Rome at the Urbaniana, where he obtained a licentiate in Canon Law; and in France at the Institut Catholique de Paris. He was ordained a priest on July 6, 1985. Following his ordination, he served as a parish priest, a professor of Canon Law, and Rector of the Major Seminary in Bamako.
