Cardinal Augusto Paolo Lojudice

The Holy Father has appointed His Eminence Cardinal Augusto Paolo Lojudice, Metropolitan Archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d’Elsa-Montalcino, as Bishop of the Diocese of Montepulciano-Chiusi-Pienza, uniting the two Sees *in persona Episcopi* (in the person of the Bishop). Cardinal Lojudice was born in Rome on July 1, 1964. He prepared for the priesthood at the Pontifical Roman Major Seminary and attended courses in Philosophy and Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University from 1983 to 1988. He obtained a Licentiate in Theology, specializing in Fundamental Theology. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Rome on May 6, 1989. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of Santa Maria del Buon Consiglio (1989–1992); Parochial Vicar of San Vigilio (1992–1997); Parish Priest of Santa Maria Madre del Redentore in Tor Bella Monaca (1997–2005); and Spiritual Director at the Pontifical Roman Major Seminary (2005–2014). From 2014 to 2015, he served as Parish Priest of San Luca Evangelista in the Prenestino district. He was appointed Titular Bishop of Alba Marittima and Auxiliary Bishop of Rome on March 6, 2015, and received episcopal ordination on May 23 of that year. On May 6, 2019, he was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d’Elsa-Montalcino. In the Consistory of November 28, 2020, he was created a Cardinal, with the Title of Santa Maria del Buon Consiglio. He is a member of the Dicastery for Bishops. Within the Italian Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Commission for Migration, and within the Tuscan Episcopal Conference, he serves as Delegate for Migration and for Missionary Cooperation between Churches.
