Donald Edward DeGrood was born on 14 February 1965 in Faribault, Minnesota. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at the Saint Paul Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis on 31 May 1997. Since ordination he has served as deputy parish priest of the All Saints Parish in Lakeville, (1997-2000), spiritual director of the Saint John Vianney Seminary (2000-2004), parish priest of the Saint Peter parish in Forest Lake (2004-2013); and parish priest of Blessed Sacrament parish in Saint Paul (2013-2015). From 2013 to 2017 he was episcopal vicar for the clergy. Since 2017 he has served as parish priest of the Saint John the Baptist parish in Savage. He has served on several diocesan committees. He is also a member of the board of the Saint Paul seminary.
