Bishop of Sion
Jean-Marie Lovey, C.R.B., was born on August 2, 1950, in Orsières. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the University of Fribourg, obtaining a Licentiate in Theology. He entered the Congregation of the Canons Regular of Great St. Bernard, where he made his religious profession on October 27, 1971. He was ordained a priest on June 15, 1977. Subsequently, he served as chaplain to various schools. After several years as Prior of the Great St. Bernard Hospice, he was elected Provost of his Congregation on February 4, 2009, and received the abbatial blessing on June 14 of that same year.
