Bishop Lindomar Rocha Mota

Lindomar Rocha Mota was born on November 20, 1971, in Arataca, in the Diocese of Itabuna, in the State of Bahia. He pursued his philosophy studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte and his theology studies at the Regina Apostolorum Athenaeum in Rome. Subsequently, he obtained a Licentiate in Spirituality from the Pontifical Institute Teresianum in Rome and both a Licentiate and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University. Furthermore, he holds a post-doctoral qualification in Democracy and Human Rights from the University of Coimbra in Portugal. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Diamantina on July 26, 1998, and held the following positions there: Rector of the Minor Seminary (2000–2003); Chancellor of the Metropolitan Curia (2001); Parochial Vicar of the Cathedral (2002–2013); Rector of the Major Seminary (2002–2003); Director of the Archdiocesan Institute of Philosophy and Theology (2006); Spiritual Director of the Major Seminary (2007); Parish Priest of São José in São José da Lagoa (2008–2013); Vicar Forane of the Curvelo Vicariate (2013); and Parochial Vicar of São Judas Tadeu in Curvelo (2015–2018). Additionally, he served as an advisor to the Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference and has been a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte for several years. Currently, he is the Parish Priest of Santo Antônio in Curvelo (since 2019), Director of the Archdiocesan Faculty of Curvelo (since 2012), and a professor at the Major Seminary of Diamantina and the Pontifical Catholic University of Belo Horizonte.
