Bishop of Sambalpur
Niranjan Sual Singh was born on July 20, 1961, in Kottama, in the Diocese of Berhampur, Orissa. He began his schooling in his native village and later continued his studies at Vijai High School in Raikia. After studying at St. John Vianney Minor Seminary in Calcutta, he pursued philosophy studies at the Papal Seminary in Pune. He obtained a commerce diploma from Adivasi College in Balliguda and completed his theology studies at the Khristo Jyoti Mohavidyaloyo Regional Theologate in Sason. He holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from Berhampur University, a Master’s degree in Theology from Vidya Jyoti in Delhi, and a Doctorate in Systematic Theology from the Urbaniana University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on April 29, 1991, for the Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1991–1992: Assistant Parish Priest in Raikia; 1992–1993: Assistant Parish Priest in Modasoro; 1993–1994: Assistant Parish Priest in Balliguda; 1994–1998: Secretary to the Archbishop; 1998–2001: Studies in Delhi; 2001–2002: Lecturer at the Khristo Jyoti Mohavidyaloyo Regional Theologate in Sason; 2002–2005: Doctoral studies in Rome; since 2006: Lecturer at the Khristo Jyoti Mohavidyaloyo Regional Theologate in Sason and Moderator of Seminarians for the Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar; in 2008: Animator for the "Village Adoption and Tuition" lay apostolate; since 2008: Animator for Dialogue and Ecumenism.
