Bishop Moacir Goulart de Figueredo

(Salto do Lontra, September 30, 1965) is a Brazilian Catholic clergyman and missionary based in Ecuador, and a member of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. He was born on September 30, 1965, in the Brazilian municipality of Salto do Lontra. On February 18, 1981, he entered the "São José" Seminary of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in Francisco Beltrão. He studied Philosophy (1984-1987) at São Francisco University in São Paulo, where he obtained a bachelor's degree. He also pursued theological studies at the Catholic University of Our Lady of the Assumption, obtaining a bachelor's degree in Theology (1987-2000) and subsequently a licentiate in Missiology (1992-1995). He completed a specialization (2005-2006) in pastoral accompaniment. He joined the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. He made his first profession of religious vows on February 1, 1987, and his solemn profession on February 2, 1990. He was ordained a deacon on January 12, 1991. His priestly ordination took place on November 16 of the same year. He served as a formator for theology students and as a parochial vicar in São Paulo (1990-1996). He was a missionary in Ecuador and a parochial vicar in Chunchi (1996-2001). He served as Provincial Superior in Curitiba (2001-2007; 2022-2024) and as a parochial vicar in Curitiba (2001-2007). He was a formator for candidates in Ecuador and a parochial vicar in Quito (2007-2016). He served as a councilor for the Ecuadorian Conference of Religious and as a formator for candidates of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (2007-2016). He was the archdiocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (2010-2015). Executive Secretary of the National Missionary Center (CEMINA) of the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference (2015-2018). Parish priest of El Buen Pastor in Turubamba, Quito (2016-2022). On October 23, 2024, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop and Vicar Apostolic of San Miguel de Sucumbíos.
