Bishop of Singida
Edward Mapunda was born on September 30, 1964, in Mango, in the Diocese of Mbinga. After completing his primary education in his home village and his secondary education at the minor seminaries in Singida and Bukoba, he studied philosophy at the Ntungamo Seminary in Bukoba and theology at the St. Charles Lwanga Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Segerea, Dar es Salaam. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Singida on November 23, 1997. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1997–2000: formator at the Singida minor seminary; 2000–2004: studies at the University of Dar es Salaam, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Education; 2004–2006: vice-rector of the Singida minor seminary; and from 2006: diocesan bursar and diocesan health coordinator.
