Bishop Hugo Norberto Santiago

Bishop Hugo Norberto Santiago, Bishop of San Nicolás de los Arroyos, was born on April 12, 1954, in María Juana, in the province of Santa Fe and the Diocese of Rafaela. He completed his primary and secondary studies at the Santa María de los Ángeles school of the Capuchin Sisters of Loano in his home town. He received his philosophical and theological formation at the archdiocesan major seminary of Córdoba, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in theology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina. He was ordained a priest for Rafaela on December 19, 1985. He exercised his priestly ministry as parochial vicar of Nuestra Señora del Carmen at Ceres and of the cathedral of Rafaela. Sent to Rome, he completed his studies and obtained a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Teresianum in 1999. He served as parish priest of San Fidel at Vila, of San Ramón at Ramona and of the cathedral of Nuestra Señora de Fátima at Rafaela, as spiritual director of the Cursillos de Cristiandad movement and as diocesan coordinator of vocations ministry. He also served as parish priest of San Guillermo at Lehmann, episcopal vicar of the southern zone of the diocese, professor of theology at the Rafaela branch of the Catholic University of Santiago del Estero and director of the diocesan school for the permanent diaconate. On December 5, 2006, he was appointed Bishop of Santo Tomé. He received episcopal ordination on March 19, 2007, with Carlos María Franzini as principal consecrator and Alcides Jorge Pedro Casaretto and Francisco Polti Santillán as co-consecrators. On September 21, 2016, he was appointed Bishop of San Nicolás de los Arroyos, and he was installed on November 11, 2016.
