Bishop of Sonsonate
Bishop Constantino Barrera Morales, Bishop of Sonsonate, El Salvador, was born in Cantón Rojita, Ciudad Victoria, in the department of Cabañas, diocese of San Vicente, El Salvador, on 18 December 1963. He completed ecclesiastical studies in philosophy at the Pius XII diocesan major seminary of San Vicente and theological studies at the San José de la Montaña national major seminary in San Salvador. He obtained a licentiate in Dogmatic Theology at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. He was ordained a priest on 8 December 1990 for the diocese of San Vicente. After priestly ordination he held the following offices: assistant pastor of the Cathedral of San Vicente; assistant pastor in Santa Bárbara parish in Sensuntepeque; pastor of San Rafael Arcángel in Tegustepeque; vicar forane; formator in the major seminary of San Vicente; collaborator in Santiago Apóstol Parish in Apastepeque. From 2010 he has been rector of the San José de la Montaña national major seminary in San Salvador.
