Bishop William Prieto Daza

Monsignor William Prieto Daza was born in Bogotá on December 26, 1974. He graduated as a medical doctor and surgeon from Javeriana University (1997) and specialized in anesthesiology at the National University (2001). He pursued philosophy studies at the Servants of the Holy Spirit Seminary in La Ceja (Antioquia) and theology studies at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Seminary of the Archdiocese of Villavicencio. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Villavicencio on March 21, 2013. He obtained a degree in Psychology from the Institute of Psychology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2017). He served as Parochial Vicar at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Restrepo, Meta (2013); was a student in Rome (2013–2017); served as Parochial Vicar at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in Villavicencio (2017); served as Vicar General and Parish Priest at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in Villavicencio (2018–2023); and served as Parish Priest at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Restrepo, Meta (2023). On July 5, 2024, he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of San Vicente del Caguán by Pope Francis; he received episcopal ordination at the Cathedral of Villavicencio on September 25 of the same year from Monsignor Paolo Rudelli, Apostolic Nuncio to Colombia. He took canonical possession of his assigned see on October 2, 2024.
