Bishop Juan Manuel González Sandoval

Juan Manuel González Sandoval, M.N.M., was born on February 20, 1964, in Guáscuaro, in the State of Michoacán. After completing his primary and secondary education in Mexico City, he undertook philosophy studies at the Conciliar Seminary of the Archdiocese of León. He subsequently completed his novitiate at Santa Ana del Conde in Guanajuato (1985–1986). After finishing his theology studies at the Major Seminary of the Archdiocese of León, he earned a degree in Educational Sciences—specializing in pedagogy for vocational formation—from the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome. He made his perpetual profession on September 7, 1990, and was ordained a priest of the Missionaries of the Nativity of Mary on July 2, 1991. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1991–1992: Chaplain at Montaña de Cristo Rey, Cubilete; 1992–1993: Formator at the Minor and Major Seminary in Santa Ana del Conde, Guanajuato; 1993–1998: Coordinator of Vocational Ministry for the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Nativity of Mary; 1998–2001: Studies in Rome, obtaining a doctorate from the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS); 2001–2008: Lecturer and formator in ethics and pedagogy at the Congregation’s seminary and chaplain at various religious houses in León; since 2008: Pastor of the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús parish in Sanjuanito, Chihuahua (Tarahumara region); Coordinator of Ongoing Formation for the Missionaries of the Nativity of Mary; Diocesan Coordinator of Catechesis; Member of the Presbyteral Council; and Coordinator of the Commission for Prophetic Ministry for the Ecclesiastical Province of Chihuahua.
