Vicar Apostolic of Taytay
Bishop Broderick Soncuaco Pabillo, S.D.B., Vicar Apostolic of Taytay, was born on March 11, 1955, in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, in the Diocese of Bacolod. He attended secondary school at Don Bosco College in Canlubang. In 1974 he entered the novitiate of the Salesian Congregation at Canlubang, Laguna, and made his perpetual vows on April 1, 1981. He obtained a bachelor's degree in sacred theology from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila and a licentiate in sacred scripture from the Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on December 8, 1982, in Manila. After a year as assistant parish priest, he served successively as bursar, vicar and finally rector of the Salesian seminary of Parañaque in Manila until 1999. He was incardinated in Puerto Princesa on January 1, 1999, and served as parish priest of San Ezequiel Moreno at Macarascas. On May 24, 2006, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Sitifis and Auxiliary Bishop of Manila. He received episcopal ordination on August 19, 2006, at Macarascas, with Gaudencio Borbon Rosales as principal consecrator and Fernando Filoni and Pedro Dulay Arigo as co-consecrators. On February 10, 2020, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Manila, ceasing to hold both the auxiliary see of Manila and that administratorship on June 24, 2021. On June 29, 2021, he was appointed Vicar Apostolic of Taytay, and he was installed on August 19, 2021.
