Bishop of Tehuacán
Gonzalo Alonso Calzada Guerrero is Bishop of Tehuacán, Puebla, México. He was born on 7 July 1964 in San Luis de la Paz, Diocese of Celaya, Mexico. Having entered the minor seminary of Celaya, he completed secondary and preparatory courses. After finishing the propaedeutic course, he attended the three-year philosophical preparation program at the Seminary of Querétaro and subsequently enrolled at the Pontifical University of Mexico for theological studies. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Celaya on 18 May 1989. After some years of experience as a seminary formator and as parish vicar, he was sent to Rome as a student of the Mexican College to attend specialization courses in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute, where he obtained the licentiate. Returning to his homeland, he held the following offices: pastor of Crespo (1999-2001), pastor of San Luis Rey de Francia (2001-2007), and, from 2007, rector of the Seminary of Celaya and member of the college of consultors.
