Bishop Claudio Palumbo

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Termoli-Larino presented by H.E. Msgr. Gianfranco De Luca and has appointed H.E. Msgr. Claudio Palumbo, hitherto Bishop of Trivento, as Bishop of the same Diocese. H.E. Msgr. Claudio Palumbo was born on January 30, 1965, in Venafro, in the province of Isernia (Diocese of Isernia-Venafro). After entering the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Chieti, he obtained a Baccalaureate in Theology from the Abruzzese-Molisano Theological Institute and a degree in Church History from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on August 15, 1990, for the Diocese of Isernia-Venafro. He held the following positions: Parish Priest of San Giovanni Bosco (1990–2011); Vice-Rector of the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Chieti (1993–1998); and Librarian of the Abruzzese-Molisano Theological Institute (1993–2011). From 2009 to 2017, he served as Vicar General and, from 2011, also as Parish Priest of San Pietro Apostolo. Elected Bishop of Trivento on June 5, 2017, he received episcopal consecration on the following September 8. He is a member of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints. Within the Abruzzo-Molise Episcopal Conference, he serves as Regional Secretary and as the Bishop delegate for culture, catechesis, and social communications. Furthermore, he is the Moderator of Studies at the Abruzzese-Molisano Theological Institute in Chieti.
