November 24, 1953: Born in Phuc Nhac, Yen Khanh, Ninh Binh (Diocese of Phat Diem). 1962–1970: Studied at St. Joseph Minor Seminary, Saigon. 1970–1977: Studied at St. Pius X Pontifical Institute, Da Lat. 1977–1988: Engaged in manual labor at Bach Lam Parish, Gia Kiem, Diocese of Xuan Loc. 1989–1990: Served at Thuan Hoa Parish, Bien Hoa, Diocese of Xuan Loc. June 9, 1990: Ordained a priest in Xuan Loc. 1990–1998: Parish Priest of Thuan Hoa, Bien Hoa, Diocese of Xuan Loc. 1998–2002: Studied in Rome; obtained a Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology. 2003–2005: In charge of seminarians for the Diocese of Xuan Loc. 2006–2009: Rector of St. Joseph Major Seminary, Xuan Loc. July 25, 2009: Appointed Bishop of Phat Diem by Pope Benedict XVI. September 8, 2009: Episcopal ordination ceremony in Phat Diem. Principal Consecrator: Bishop Dominic Nguyen Chu Trinh. October 19, 2019: Appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Phat Diem by Pope Francis. Within the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam, Bishop Joseph Nguyen Nang has held the following positions: – Chairman of the Commission for Evangelization (2010–2013) – Chairman of the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith (2013–2016) – Vice President of the Bishops' Conference (2016–2022) – President of the Bishops' Conference (2022–present).
