Bishop of Tilarán-Liberia
Monsignor Manuel Eugenio Salazar Mora was born on October 9, 1958, in Guadalupe. His parents are Rodrigo Salazar Mora and Blanca Rosa Mora Alpízar. He was ordained a priest on December 4, 1982, in the Archdiocese of San José by Monsignor Román Arrieta Villalobos (may he rest in peace). His episcopal ordination took place on April 4, 2016, at the Cathedral of Tilarán; the ordaining bishop was Monsignor Girardi Stellin. Monsignor Manuel Eugenio Salazar completed his primary education at the Pilar Jiménez School in Guadalupe, Goicoechea, San José, and his secondary education at the Napoleón Quesada Salazar High School in Guadalupe, Goicoechea, San José (1972–1976). Monsignor Salazar entered the Central Seminary in Paso Ancho (1977–1982) and obtained a Licentiate degree in Fundamental Theology from the Gregorian University in Rome (1988–1990).
