Bishop of Tlaxcala
Bishop Julio César Salcedo Aquino, M.J., Bishop of Tlaxcala, was born on April 12, 1951, in Mexico City, in the Archdiocese of México. Formed at the major seminary of the Missionaries of St. Joseph, he subsequently took a degree in spirituality at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on July 17, 1976, and was incardinated in the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Joseph. He subsequently served as master of novices, coordinator of Josephite vocations ministry, superior and rector of the Josephite major seminary of Mexico City, general councillor of the congregation, rector of the theologate, and vicar general and first councillor of the general government of his congregation. From 2009 until 2015 he was superior general of the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Joseph. On June 15, 2017, he was appointed Bishop of Tlaxcala. He received episcopal ordination on August 30, 2017, with Franco Coppola as principal consecrator and José Víctor Manuel Valentín Sánchez Espinosa and Roberto Octavio Balmori Cinta as co-consecrators.
