Bishop Luis Martín Barraza Beltrán

Bishop Luis Martín Barraza Beltrán, Bishop of Torreón, Coahuila, México, was born in Camargo, Chihuahua, on 22 November 1963. He entered the minor seminary of Chihuahua in 1978, where he completed the baccalaureate at Colegio de Bachilleres, finishing it in 1981. From 1981 to 1984 he studied philosophy at the Seminario Regional del Norte in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. He carried out the theological stage at the Seminario Regional del Norte in Chihuahua from 1984 to 1988. He was ordained a deacon on 21 April 1988 in Chihuahua by Bishop Adalberto Almeida y Merino. He received priestly ordination from Bishop Adalberto Almeida y Merino on 17 June 1988 in Chihuahua. He studied for the licentiate in philosophy at the Gregorian University in Rome from 1993 to 1995. Since 1995 he has belonged to the Priests of Prado association. In 2010 he was sent to the Archdiocesan Seminary of Chihuahua with appointment as the person in charge of the spiritual dimension. In 2013 he was appointed rector of the Archdiocesan Seminary of Chihuahua. Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of the Diocese of Torreón on 9 September 2017. He was ordained bishop on 29 November 2017 in the city of Torreón, Coahuila.
