Luiz Gonçalves Knupp was born in Mandaguari, in the Archdiocese of Maringá, on November 29, 1967. After completing his primary education, he pursued philosophy studies at the Nossa Senhora da Glória Seminary in Maringá and theology studies at CINTEC (Centro Interdiocesano de Teologia de Cascavel) in the Archdiocese of Cascavel. He was ordained a priest on April 24, 1999. During his priestly ministry, he has held the following positions: Parish Administrator (2000) and subsequently Parish Priest of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe in Maringá (2002–2007); Spiritual Director for the Theology, Philosophy, and Propaedeutic seminaries of the Archdiocese of Maringá; Parish Administrator of Nossa Senhora de Fátima (2008); and Spiritual Director of the Santíssima Trindade Seminary (Archdiocese of Maringá, based in Londrina). He is currently the Parish Priest of Nossa Senhora de Fátima in Marialva, in the Archdiocese of Maringá.
