Archbishop of Tyr (Melkite Greek)
H.E. Georges Iskandar was born on February 4, 1968, in Ain El Mir, Jezzine (Lebanon). After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a diploma in Information Technology Management from the State University, he entered the Basilian Salvatorian Order. He pursued the standard curriculum in Philosophy and Theology at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and earned a Licentiate in Canon Law from Saint Paul University in Ottawa. Ordained a priest on July 11, 1998, and following his studies in Canada—where he served at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Ottawa (1999–2003)—he returned to Lebanon. There, he was appointed Rector of the Order’s Minor Seminary and the school in Joun, and later became the head of the *Foyer de l’Amitié* in Zahlé. He also served as Vicar General of the Order and, since 2007, as President of the Unified Greek-Melkite Tribunal. In addition to Arabic, he speaks English and French.
