Bishop of Urdaneta
Bishop Jacinto Agcaoili Jose, Bishop of Urdaneta, was born on October 29, 1950, in Laoag City, in the Diocese of Laoag. He completed his secondary studies at the minor seminary of Laoag, and was subsequently a student of the Seminary College of Nueva Segovia in Vigan and of the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, obtaining a licentiate in sacred theology. He was ordained a priest for Laoag on June 29, 1975, in Rome, by Pope Paul VI, in one of the ceremonies of the Holy Year. He then served as prefect of discipline and rector of the minor seminary of Laoag, and from 1983 to 1985 undertook specialised studies in canon law at the Angelicum in Rome. Returning home, he was professor and then rector of the major seminary of Nueva Segovia in Vigan (1985-1990), and for a year rector of the minor seminary of Laoag. From 1992 he served as parish priest, first at Burgos, then at Santa Monica in Sarrat, and finally at St. William Cathedral in Laoag. From June 7, 2005, he was diocesan administrator of Laoag. On September 21, 2005, he was appointed Bishop of Urdaneta. He received episcopal ordination on November 26, 2005, with Antonio Franco as principal consecrator and Edmundo Madarang Abaya and Ernesto Antolin Salgado as co-consecrators. He was installed as Bishop of Urdaneta on December 30, 2005.
